Privacy and cookies
How we handle the data of those who visit this site and of those who write to us. In short: we collect only what we need to reply, and we use no profiling cookies or tracking tools.

What data we process
Browsing data. Like any website, the servers hosting it automatically log some technical data about visits (IP address, browser type, page requested, date and time). It is used only to run the site and protect it from abuse, on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), and is kept for a short time by the hosting provider.
Data you send through the contact form. Your name, email address, topic, the text of your message and the language of the site. We use it only to reply to you and, if you ask, to arrange a visit or an event: the legal basis is your request and the consent you give by sending the form (Art. 6(1)(a) and (b) GDPR). We also send you a copy of your message as confirmation.
We keep this data for as long as needed to handle your request, and in any case no longer than 24 months after the last contact, unless the law requires otherwise (for instance if a contract follows).
Who processes it on our behalf
Your data is never sold or passed on to third parties for marketing. It is processed on our behalf only by:
- Vercel Inc., which hosts the site and runs the contact form;
- Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.), which delivers the contact form emails;
- the provider of La Specola’s mailbox, where messages arrive.
Some of these providers are based in the United States: transfers take place with the safeguards set out in the GDPR (EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses).
Cookies and local storage
The site uses only technical tools, which need no consent and are not used to profile you:
- specola-consent (localStorage, 6 months): remembers your cookie choice, so we do not ask on every page;
- specola:intro-done (sessionStorage, until the tab is closed): remembers that you have already seen the opening animation.
We use no profiling, advertising or statistics cookies, nor third-party content that sets them: the fonts are served from our own domain. Should we ever add statistics tools, they will run only with your consent. You can change your choice at any time: .
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to access, correct or erase your data, restrict its processing, receive a copy of it or object to its use (Arts. 15–22 GDPR), and withdraw your consent without affecting what was done before. Just write to info@specolalucca.com. If you believe your data is not handled correctly you can lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, or with the authority of the country where you live.
We make no automated decisions and do no profiling based on your data.
